Evangeline T Nadeau (Denault) aged 99, passed away peacefully on Aug 9th. 2024 in Goffstown, NH, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Nashua in 1925, she was the beloved widow of Ernest J Nadeau, originally of Edmundston, NB, Canada. Married in 1946, they made their home in Nashua until his passing in 1976. She was the first born child of Francis and Ludgarde (Desbiens) Denault of Nashua, sister to deceased brother Raymond Denault, and to her deceased sisters and their spouses: Rachel, (Mrs Philip Dionne), and Norma ( Mrs Peter Zedalis). She is survived by her youngest brother Gerard and his wife Patricia (Bell) Denault.
She was also very close to her husband’s family throughout the years, and was the last of Grande Dames of the Nadeau family, with her sister-in-law Rela (Nadeau), the widow of Raymond Burns, having passed in 2023. Predeceased, but not forgotten, the children of Telesphore and Amanda Nadeau and their spouses: Joseph-Pea and Jeannette (Cormier) Nadeau, Julienne (Nadeau) and Wilfred Gagne, Clarida (Nadeau) and Wilfred Lambert, Henry and Jeanine (Morin) Nadeau, Anita (Nadeau) and Laurent Lavoie, Regina (Nadeau) and Roland Belanger, Albert Nadeau, Roger and Therese (Budon) Nadeau, Rita (Nadeau) and Eugene Frenette.
Vangie is also survived by her daughters Lisa (Nadeau) Schofield and her long-time companion Richard Webber, of Nashua, and Lori (Nadeau) Richardson and her husband John B Richardson, of Providence, RI.
She absolutely adored and was thrilled to pieces for her Grandchildren- Corey and his wife Rachel ( Haines) Schofield, and her great- grandchildren Nora and Graham Schofield of Watertown, MA; as well as grandsons Charles E, and Nigel S Richardson of Providence, RI; Owen T Richardson and his wife Ana Cueva, and great-granddaughters Olivia and Viviana Richardson of Chepachet, RI. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins on both the Denault and Nadeau sides of the family, as well as their children throughout the US and Canada, all of whom were very special to her.
Vangie worked for many years at JF McElwain, as well as a couple of years at Kollsman Instruments before her retirement in 1983. In her time at ‘The JF’ she developed long-term friendships, as well as holding the office of Treasurer for the shoe workers’ union. She was never afraid to put her ‘2 cents in’ to advocate for her fellow workers, nor to argue against plans that were less beneficial for them. It did not go unnoticed! She was consummate in her research and compunctiously honest. For 15 years post-retirement, she lived in Holly Hills, FL, to enjoy its warmth and beaches, as well as to be near her beloved sister Rachel and one of her favorite aunts before coming back to Nashua to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren. She was a congregant of St Francis Xavier parish for many years, though the move back to Nashua brought her back to the parish of St Louis de Gonzague, the church she attended as a child.
Relatives and friends are invited to Vangie’s memorial wake on WEDNESDAY, August 21st from 5 until 7 PM at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. Her Funeral Mass in her honor will be at St. Aloysius/St Louis de Gonzague Church, 48 West Hollis St, Nashua, NH, on THURSDAY, August 22nd at 10 AM. Kindly meet at church.
She will be buried next to her husband Ernest at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, 32 Pine Hill Ave, Nashua. Vangie’s requested preference is that donations to be sent to the PanMass Challenge cancer fund.- https://www.pmc.org/ways-to-give
