Gertrude J. D'Amours

Gertrude D’Amours, known to friends as “Gert” passed away on July 8, 2020 at the age of 79 years. A life-long resident of Nashua, she was the only daughter of the late Andre and Alice (Thibault) D'Amours. 

Gertrude graduated from St. Louis High School in 1958 continuing her education at Notre Dame College in Manchester.  She received her Master’s Degree in Education from Northeastern University.  Gertrude devoted her life to educating students, first at St. Joseph’s School and Fairgrounds Elementary in Nashua.  She enjoyed sharing her scientific knowledge with many students and colleagues!

Gertrude was devoted to her parents.  After her mother’s death, she found great pleasure taking camping trips with her father to Canada to visit extended family. 

A devout Catholic, Gertrude seldom missed an opportunity to visit Canadian Religious Devotions.  Gertrude’s visits to St. Anne de Beaupre and St. Joseph’s Oratory provided an opportunity to deepen her devotion and dedication to her faith. She was an active life-long parishioner at St. Aloysius Parish where she served as a Sacristan and Eucharistic Minister; bringing Communion to the sick for years.

In retirement, Gertrude remained a loyal friend to all of her colleagues, parishioners, and Sisters of the Holy Cross Community.  She enjoyed lunches with the retired teachers group, and playing cards. She remained active by giving tours at Budweiser in Merrimack.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 12:30 PM in St Louis de Gonzague Church, 48 West Hollis Street, Nashua, NH. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 PM in St. Louis Cemetery.  Friends are asked to meet in Church, remembering to wear masks and to social distance.  Arrangements are in the care of the Rochette Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 21 Kinsley St., Nashua,
