Gloria Timmons Obituary

Gloria J. Timmons, 73, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, NH.

Gloria was born on March 21, 1952, and raised in Bellevue Square of Hartford, Connecticut. Gloria is the daughter of the late Jewell (Hicks) Timmons and Primous Jones. Gloria is predeceased by her daughter Tonita Sheree Thompson and godson Troy Hicks.

Gloria is survived by her two children, daughter Keya Shanez Doyle and spouse David Doyle, and son Alton Jones Jr, and spouse Leah Jones, both residents of Nashua, NH. Gloria has 15 grandchildren: Kuron, Essence, Daevon, Jordan, Niya, Kiera, Erica, Jayden, Kayla, Justice, Bishop, Amari, Keilani, Chase, and Marissa, as well as many great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her sister Cheryl Timmons-Opesso of Windsor, CT, brother Samuel (Butch) Timmons of Hartford, CT and sister in-law Mary Timmons of Tampa, Florida. Gloria is predeceased by brothers George Jr., Wade, Richard Timmons, and her sisters Dale and Gale Timmons.

Gloria graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1970. After graduating, she worked for Pratt and Whitney and soon joined the US Army in 1980 which she served for 22 years. After retiring from the military, she continued her education at Rivier College earning her bachelor's degree in Sociology. Gloria was employed as the Assistant Director for the New Hampshire Employment Security, where she would retire.

Gloria has been a resident of Nashua since 1990 and started the Greater Nashua chapter of the NAACP in 2007, becoming its first president. She was a lifelong public servant and was elected to the Nashua Board of Education (2017), then elected as Alderwoman-at- Large for the City of Nashua (2021). Gloria was an avid traveler, traveling throughout six continents and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Gloria also leaves behind her childhood best friend Beverly Hicks and many loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and numerous friends throughout the United States and abroad.

Visiting hours will be held at Rochette Funeral home on Sunday, November 23, 2025, between the hours of 9 AM and 11 AM, located at 21 Kinsley St, Nashua, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arlington Street Community Center located at 36 Arlington St, Nashua, NH and Feed the Kids NH. Links are provided below.
