Guy D. Paris

Guy D. Paris, 86, died peacefully at St. Joseph Hospital on Wednesday, December 28th surrounded by his loving family. He was the widower of Carol (Nelson) Paris. 

Guy was born in Woburn, MA on April 6, 1936, and was a son of the late Domenic and Susan (Bertini) Paris. He had an active childhood working on the family farm and often told stories of warm Summers spent amidst the tomato and celery fields and trips with his dad to the market at Faneuil Hall to sell produce. One day, on his way to grade school, Guy spotted a J3 Cub airplane at the local gas station. The owner of the gas station brought it there as an advertisement for the airport. Guy could not believe the beauty the airplane. His mom took him to the airport and the plane’s owner gave him his first airplane ride. As he stared wide-eyed at the wonderous machine, he was filled with dreams of flying and someday becoming a pilot. When he got old enough, he would ride his bicycle to the airport, where he would wash and refuel the planes and put them in their hangers. At around 14 years old, he joined the civil air patrol, and a former WW2 Army Air Force pilot instructor taught him to fly. Then, on his 16th birthday, he made his first solo flight at the Beverly airport. As dawn broke on that Sunday, he was knocking at the door of his instructor’s residence to be the first pilot in the air that day. Later, as a young man, he at times held down 3 jobs to support his family. He proudly served in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged. Through hard work and determination, he eventually became a commercial airline pilot and flight check captain with Delta Airlines. In addition to his love of aviation, he enjoyed antique cars, gardening and going to car shows. With his great, big infectious smile he would illuminate even the darkest day, always exemplifying values of love, respect, compassion, honesty, and determination in his everyday life. As a godly man who walked in faith, he was an extraordinary example of a life well-lived, instilling values of integrity and perseverance in his loving children. He leaves an indelible mark of kindness on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to share in this lifetime with him.

Guy is survived by three daughters; Lisa Marie Paris of Worcester, MA, Michele Paris Lubbe of E. Falmouth, MA and Kristin Paris Duchesne of Barrington, two grandchildren; Austin Lubbe and Colton Lubbe, His partner of 20 years; Violet Sullivan of Nashua, two sisters; Evelyn Handweiler of California and Josephine “Dolly” McDermott of Virginia as well as two sons-in-law, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was predeceased by a brother, John Paris.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on WEDNESDAY, January 4th from 4 until 8 PM at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on THURSDAY, January 5th at 10 AM in St. Louis de Gonzague Church, 48 W Hollis Street, Nashua.  Interment with military honors will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua.
