Helen Rodanthe (Kotopoulis) Karakantas, 86, a lifelong resident of Nashua, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family. She is the beloved wife of George Karakantas with whom she shared 66 years of marriage.
Helen was born in Nashua, New Hampshire on December 15, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Vasilios A. and Katherine (Lola) Kotopoulis. She received her education in the Nashua School System and was a graduate of Nashua High School.
Helen began her work career at Nashua Corporation as a teletypist, but soon after started her family with Goerge having two children. She re-entered the workforce and embarked on a rewarding 27-year career in sales at Scontsas Jewelers in Nashua which she truly loved.
Helen actively engaged in her community and faith. As a dedicated member of St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church in Nashua, she not only taught Sunday School but also sang in the choir and participated in the Ladies of Agape. Each May, she eagerly contributed her time and effort to the annual Greek Festival, making it a cherished community event. Helen loved to travel with her husband, George, exploring many destinations over their lifetime together. Over the years, she developed a profound affection for her children's pets, caring for them as if they were her own. Above all, the moments spent with family and friends were the most treasured.
In addition to her husband, George, she is survived by her two children and their spouses, daughter Stephanie and her husband Bill of Maine and her son Ted and his wife Anastasiya of Arizona. She also had two god children Melissa Economu and James Palavras; as well as numerous lifelong, dear friends.
Helen’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the acute rehab and the 5th floor staff at St. Josephs hospital for providing compassionate care and support to Helen and family.
Relatives and friends are invited to Helen’s visitation on WEDNEDAY, December 31st from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM in St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 W Hollis Street, Nashua. Her Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 AM in the Church followed by a mercy meal at the church’s hall. Helen’s interment will be held privately at Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s name to St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, Nashua.
