Imelda (Millie) R. McKillip, 85, of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 27, 2025 surrounded by love following a long illness.
Born on October 4, 1940, in Lewiston, Maine, she was a daughter of the late Jean B. and Rose A. (Brochu) Dostie. She arrived in Nashua in 1965 where she raised 4 children with her husband Robert before his passing in April 2025.
Millie worked for many years at Bradlees Department Store as a sales clerk, department manager and retired as the store secretary when the store closed. It wasn’t uncommon for French speaking customers to seek Millie in the yard goods department to receive friendly assistance.
She was a communicant of Infant Jesus Church, a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Society and many other school and civic groups. She proudly served as Nashua Ward 7 Clerk and enjoyed catching up with neighbors on election day.
Millie was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and solitaire. She was very proud of her ranking on the solitaire leaderboard and was disappointed when she missed her daily challenges. Friends and family will remember how Millie went to great lengths to find the perfect gift. She loved exploring new restaurants and experiencing waves crash on beach cliffs. She was passionate about the Boston Bruins of the 70’s and later the WNBA Valkyries.
Imelda is survived by her four children, Carol McKillip of Merrimack, Barbara, Michelle McKillip and her wife Pam Jobst of Arizona, and Robert McKillip Jr. and his wife Patricia of Manchester; her five grandchildren, Zachary, Mackenzie, Kyle, Rebekah, and Benjamin; as well as one great-grandchild, Opal. She is also survived by her brother Roland Dostie, as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Mrs. McKillip was predeceased by her sister, Ghislaine (Jay) Taylor and her grandchild Gabriel.
Millie’s family would like to send their heartfelt thanks to the team at Home, Health and Hospice for the care and compassion they showed to their mother during her illness. A special note of gratitude to Taylor, Laura, Allie and especially to Julia for her compassion, intuition, efficiency and friendship.
Millie and Robert will be interred together in the spring/summer of 2026 at the New Hampshire Veteran’s Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Imelda’s name to Shriner’s Hospital by visiting, https://www.shrinerschildrens.org/en, the Disabled American Veterans, by visiting https://www.dav.org/ or the charity of one’s choice.
