Jacques P. Tardif

Jacques Tardif of Springhill Florida passed away at the age of 72 Tuesday August 17, 2021 at Bayonet Point Medical center in Hudson Florida. 

Born in St. Hermenegilde, QC Canada in 1949 to the late Lorenzo and Aline (Tremblay) Tardif,  Jacques immigrated to the United States in 1964 at the age of 15 along with his family.  At 19 years old he was drafted into the US Army.  Upon completing boot camp he married Marthe Larochelle on May, 17 1969.  This union would be the defining event of his life.  A perpetually loving family man, he and his wife welcomed 3 children to their family; Linda, Carole and Joey.  Later in his life, Jacques welcomed 5 grand children who clearly warmed his heart and drew out some of the biggest smiles and craziest laughs he could muster.  Truly, family was what he lived for. 

                Jacques worked in construction throughout his adult life and provided all that his family could ever need and more.  The strength and love in his character was not reserved only for his family but also felt and observed by many people who encountered him.  He fostered strength and determination in many young co-workers who had the opportunity to learn from him.  When his nephew could no longer attend Sunday Mass in person, Jacques undertook the training and counseling required to become a Eucharistic Minister in the Catholic Church in the Arch Diocese of NH.  Not one to miss an opportunity,   this gave him the perfect excuse to also spend Sunday mornings having coffee with his brothers and sister to maintain the close family he loved. 

                After dedicating more than 35 years to work he retired in 2005.  At that time, he and Marthe returned to Canada for several years to rekindle the connections to family there.  The cold weather though, pulled them back south and they returned to NH a few years later.  As it turns out though, NH was also too cold and a few years on they moved full time to Florida.   In Spring Hill, Jacques finally slowed down to enjoy the fruits of his years of labor. 

                Jacques will be sorely missed; as a Loving Husband who would move the world for his wife, as a great father who instilled as much of the strength of his character into his children as he knew how,  as a jolly grandfather always ready to joke and be silly to elicit a smile from his grandkids, as a brother who wouldn’t dream of missing a chance to have coffee and chat with his siblings, as a son whose heart held his mother close always, as a mentor who believed helping others was a privilege.   

Jacques was predeceased by; Leopold Larochelle, Adrien Tardif, Marcel Tardif, Leger Lapointe, Cecil Larochelle, Helen Tardif, Michael Berry and Sylvie Lapointe

 Besides his wife Marthe, Jacques is survived by his children; Linda Tardif and and her partner, Steven Rosati, Carole Gynan and her husband Eric Gynan, Joey Tardif and his wife Michelle Lauria; Grandchildren; Stevi Anderson, Dylan Anderson, Riley Marshall, Ptolemy Tardif and Wilhelmina Tardif, Siblings Marie Berry and partner Paul Tessler, Mario Tardif and Wife Patricia, Antonio Tardif;  In-laws; Jean Larochelle and his wife Rose, Jacques Larochelle and his wife Diane, Joseph Larochelle and his wife Wanda, Yvonne Lapointe, Simonne Lessard and her husband Roger, Denise Larochelle, Bertrand Lapointe as well as  many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM in the Rochette Funeral Home, 21 Kinsley St., Nashua.  A prayer service will be held at 10:30 AM in the funeral home.  Private family burial will take place in the NH State Veteran Cemetery, Boscawen, NH at a later date.  Services and arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Rochette Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
