James Earl McMahon, 84, of Nashua, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 19, 1940 in North Dighton, MA, James was the son of the late John and Kathleen (Lane) McMahon.
He lived a life rich with curiosity and compassion. James proudly served in the United States Air Force, and later found his calling in education, teaching software languages at Hesser College. In retirement he devoted much of his time to volunteering at St. Joseph’s Hospital. A lifelong learner, he had a deep love for history, reading, and genealogy.
James was known for his fondness for a fine single malt scotch, meaningful conversations, and his lighthearted references to his routine visits to the “post office.” He was a man of depth and character, whose wit and wisdom left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Helen McMahon; his children, Kelly Carr and her husband Greg of Nashua, Karen Rodriguez and her husband Manny of El Paso, Texas, and Kevin McMahon and his wife Nicole of Nashua; and his cherished grandchildren: Patrick Carr and his wife Sam, Katie Carr, Peyton Selles, Tyler Selles, Madison Selles, Caitlin McMahon, and James McMahon; and his nephew, Sean McMahon.
In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his brothers, John McMahon and Thomas McMahon.
James's legacy is one of kindness, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for learning. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
