Janet Ann Allard, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Nashua on October 18, 1941, Janet was the daughter of the late Florent “Albert” and Julia (Latour) Gauvin. A lifelong resident of the city, she dedicated much of her life to caring for others, first working as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at St. Joseph Hospital and later finding her calling as a paraprofessional with Broad Street Elementary School for special needs children, where she worked until her retirement.
Janet had a zest for life and a love for the little joys that made every day special. She was an enthusiastic player of cribbage, bingo, and cards, and she cherished her trips to Foxwoods and other casinos. Always hopeful for a lucky break, she enjoyed her scratch tickets and outings to the beach. A devoted and spirited fan of the Boston Red Sox, she rarely missed a game. Above all, Janet enjoyed time spent with her family, especially during Christmas and Easter
In addition to her work and hobbies, Janet had a special place in her heart for children. She volunteered at Ledge Street School and New Searles Elementary, where she was affectionately known as “Foster Grandma.” Her warmth, patience, and gentle humor made her a beloved figure to students and staff alike.
Janet’s kind spirit, sharp wit, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Janet is survived by her two children Julie Lavoie and her husband Marc, and James Allard; her stepdaughter Theresa Richardson and her husband Bill; her grandchildren Ginnella Jacques and her husband Joey, Meghan Lavoie, Matthew Lavoie, Jordan Allard, Nathan Allard, and Zafi Allard; her niece and Godchild Dena Gauvin, and her nephew Jay Gauvin; and her brother Ronald Gauvin and his wife Sandy.
Family and friends are invited to Janet’s Funeral Mass on WEDNESDAY, April 23rd at 9 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, 29 Spring Street, Nashua. Her interment will follow at Gibson Cemetery, Pelham, NH.
