Joan Conde Obituary

Joan A. Conde, 86, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Conde who predeceased her in 2019 after 62 years of marriage.

Joan was born in New York City, New York on July 3, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Freeburn) Holland.

Joan was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. In her younger years she was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Columbiettes, a Cub Scout leader, and a member of the PTO. Later in life she worked at Nashua Corporation and Nashua Public Schools. Joan was a devout Catholic and served as Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Nashua.

One of Joan’s favorite pastimes was chatting on the phone with friends and family, especially her sisters. General Hospital and Law and Order were among her favorite television shows as well as anything on Game Show Network. She also enjoyed watching tennis, baseball and football. She liked playing Words With Friends on her “Kindle of Fire'' with anyone that would accept the invitation, and she was known to inadvertently make some pretty funny posts on Facebook.  One of her favorite hobbies was doing laundry, and she excelled at the challenge of removing the toughest stains. Joan appreciated all kinds of music and would usually sing along to her favorite songs, especially "My Way." She loved dogs; silly stuffed toys that sing and dance; extra sweet coffee and donuts; and going out to eat at her favorite restaurants. But above all, Joan cherished spending time with her family and closest friends, especially celebrating Christmas and birthdays.

Joan is survived by her four daughters, Donna Sullivan and her husband Marc of Raymond, NH; Joan Levine and her husband Benjamin of Nashua; Jeanne Gendron of Dover; and Karen Conde of Nashua; her son, Richard Conde Jr. and his wife Holly of Henniker; her five grandchildren, Michael Levine and his wife Lindsay, Daniel Levine, Derrick Gendron and his wife Danielle, Kaylee Gendron, and Heather Levine. She is also survived by her five (soon to be six) great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Zoë, Samuel, Nikolas, Ava and “Baby G”; her sister Loretta Shinnick of New Jersey and her brother Joseph Holland Jr. and his wife Terry of Florida; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and her husband Richard, Joan was predeceased by her two sisters, Veronica Muratore and Frances Rita Clark, and her brother John Holland.

Relatives and friends are invited to Joan’s Funeral Mass on FRIDAY, June 11th at 9:30 AM in St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 777 West Hollis Street, Nashua. Kindly meet at the church.  Immediately following the service there will be a brunch to celebrate Joan’s life at a location to be determined. Interment will take place in the New Hampshire State Veteran Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements under the care of ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua.
