John McKelvey Jr. Obituary

John “Mac” Stephen McKelvey Jr., age 57, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2025, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. He is the beloved husband of Nicole Kathleen (Waters) McKelvey, with whom he shared 30 years of marriage.

John was born on May 18, 1967, in Bethpage, NY and was the son of Patricia (Hannigan) McKelvey and the late John Stephen McKelvey Sr.

John attended the New York school system, graduating from Sachem High School. He furthered his education at Stony Brook University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in economics.

John dedicated his career to the FAA as a Training Specialist.

An avid outdoorsman, John enjoyed his leisure time camping and hiking. He was also heavily involved in Scouting, where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and later served as a Scoutmaster. John was a collector, priding himself on his coin and stamp collections. He had a love for aviation and learning about airplanes. John was a passionate sports fan, especially for all New England teams. He found a love for classic rock music, with the band Rush being his favorite. But above all else, he treasured the time spent with his family.

In addition to his mother Patricia and his wife Nicole, John is survived by his two children, Jasper Vincent McKelvey and his partner Ellie Rhoades of Strattanville, PA, and Charles John McKelvey of Nashua; his three siblings, Debra Sonnier and her husband Mark of Pearl River, LA, Mary McKelvey of TN, and Michael McKelvey of Portland, CT; as well as many nieces and nephews.

At the family’s request, services have been omitted.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s name to the National Kidney Foundation http://www.kidney.org or to the Troop 410 Boy Scouts in Nashua.
