João Argemiro de Carvalho Paiva

João Argemiro de Carvalho Paiva, age 61, peacefully passed away on Tuesday evening, July 23, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after bravely battling gastric cancer. He was the cherished husband of Marici de Fatima Ribeiro Paiva, with whom he shared 36 years of devoted marriage.

João was born in Resende, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on January 6, 1963, the son of Alcir de Paiva and the late Dulce Maria de Carvalho Paiva. He pursued his undergraduate studies at the Federal University of Espirito Santo, earning a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He furthered his education with a Master’s in Computer Science at the National Institute of Space Research (INPE) in São Jose dos Campos, São Paulo. From 1995 to 1998, he resided in Maine, where he attained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Spatial Information Science and Engineering from the University of Maine.

For over two decades, João dedicated his career as a software engineer at Oracle in Nashua, New Hampshire. Outside of work, he found joy in soccer, both as a passionate player and avid spectator, continuing to play until last November. His talent on the field nearly led him to a professional career in Brazil during his youth. He also cherished traveling, especially trips to Brazil to visit friends and extended family.

João will be fondly remembered for his caring nature, strong work ethic, and dedication to his role as a provider and family man. His happiest moments were spent surrounded by loved ones at their home in Nashua. He leaves behind a legacy of love and hard work that will be forever cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In addition to his wife Marici, João is survived by his three children, Gustavo and his wife Kristina, Gabriel, and Camila; his siblings, Maria Teresa, Maria Celia, and João Alfredo; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by the family’s beloved pets, Puma, Jax, and Geo.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend João’s visitation on MONDAY, July 29th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home on TUESDAY, July 30th, at 10:00 AM. Guests are kindly asked to arrive at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at Edgewood Cemetery, Nashua.
