Katherine Julia Balch

Katherine “Kitty” Julia (Dzioba) Balch, of Hudson, NH, passed away peacefully on Monday February 2, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 88. She was the beloved wife of John “Jack” Arthur Balch for (66) years.

Born on July 5, 1937, in Amesbury, Massachusetts, Kitty was the cherished daughter of the late Andrew and Catherine (Holmaka) Dzioba. She grew up in Amesbury, attending St. Joseph Grammar School and Amesbury High School, before earning her associate’s degree at Chandler School for Women, Boston, MA.

Kitty began her career as a secretary at Sylvania in Ipswich, MA. After starting her family, she devoted many years to being a homemaker and raising her four children. Later, Kitty brought her warmth and dedication to the Nashua school system and Birch Hill Elementary, where she worked as a cook. 

Kitty enjoyed baking, knitting, skiing and going to the beach. Kitty was especially known for her famous chocolate chip cookies which she made for family & friends.  She was also a dedicated parishioner of Parish of the Resurrection where she coordinated Bingo for many years. But nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her grandchildren.

Kitty is survived by her husband, Jack, and her loving children: Deborah Roman and her husband Timothy of Walpole, MA; Diane Ventresca and her husband Marco of Nashua; Katie Harris and her husband Keith of Pepperell, MA; and Andrew Balch and his wife Christy of Manchester. Kitty was the adored grandmother of Alexander Ventresca and his fiancée Meghan, Benjamin Harris, Olivia Balch and fiancé Anthony, Zachary Ventresca and fiancée Kate, Ethan Harris, Hayden Balch, Jason Roman, and Emily Roman. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Kitty was predeceased by her siblings; Andrew and his wife Elsie, Helen McLaughlin and her husband Edmund, Frances Kozak and her husband Matthew, and Mary Pace and her husband Walter.

Family and friends are invited to Kitty’s visitation on SATURDAY, May 16th from 9 until 10 AM at Parish of the Resurrection, 449 Broad Street, Nashua. Her funeral mass will follow at 10 AM. Interment will take place at a later date at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Community Hospice House-Gardens 210 Naticook Road , Merrimack, NH 03054.
