Klavdiya Yanushkevych Obituary

Klavdiya Yanushkevych, 81, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 18, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late Nikolay Yanushkevych.

Klavdiya was born in Chrolchizi, Belarus on October 25, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Nikolay and Anna Zhitko.

For many years, she was employed as a professor of art and graphic design at the University of Belarus until her retirement.

She emigrated here to the United States at age 65. Klavdiya had an amazing desire to learn new things. She immediately started learning English after moving here and was tireless about going to school for many years.  She learned English to pass the very difficult exam to become a US citizen. She truly loved this country and the freedom, respect, and patriotism that this country stands for.

Klavdiya was an extremely talented artist, had a deep knowledge and love of nature, and amazing gardening skills. She would take walks to pick up leaves and natural, recyclable items and turn them into the most beautiful pieces of art. She would gift these remarkable pieces to the people she cared and loved for, including the doctors and nurses who took such good care of her. It was an expression of her love language.

Klavdiya was a humble, independent, and strong-willed person, never giving up against her battle with cancer, never surrendering. Even on her dark days, her light would shine and always find the sweetest, kindest words, even for strangers. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter Svetlana Yanushkevich and Svetlana’s husband Donald Eickstedt of Nashua, her daughter Tatyana Novgorodova of Latvia, her 3 grandchildren, and her sister and brother in Belarus.
