Leonie M. Emond, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday July 25, 2024 at Fairview Nursing Facility in Hudson, NH, surrounded by loved ones. She was the beloved wife of the late Normand Emond with whom she shared 64 years of marriage prior to his passing on October 1, 2019.
Leonie was born in Mont Carmel, Quebec, Canada on April 25, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Belanger) Emond and Jeanne (Lavoie) Emond, stepmother. She was educated in Canada. Leonie worked as a waitress while attending nursing school. She was married to Normand in Canada, and they made their home in NH. Leonie later became a U.S. Citizen, and worked for many years at Nashua Corporation until her retirement.
Leonie was loved by all she met. Her smile lit up a room. She enjoyed hosting family dinners, crocheting, cooking, her flower gardens, watching and feeding birds and hummingbirds. Leonie and Normand enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. But most of all she loved spending time with her family, and yearly trips back to Canada. Her and Normand also loved their time spent in Pittsburg, NH (God's Country). She was a loving and caring spouse, mother, memere, aunt, cousin and friend.
For the last several years, Leonie lived at The Inn at Fairview, where she was loved by all. She enjoyed many activities, especially outings to the therapy horse stables, to the beach and out for ice cream. She played bingo, painted and did many crafts which she enjoyed. The family would like to send a special Thank you to all of the staff at Fairview nursing facility, for their kind, compassionate and loving care. She will be missed.
Leonie is survived by her three children, Andre "Andy" Emond of Nashua, Linda Strand and her husband John of New Ipswich, and Jane Bishop and her husband Mark of Goffstown; her four grandchildren, Michael Emond of CT, Brian Coll of Maine, Christina Daniels and her husband Matt of Jaffrey and Nicholas Edwards of Dover. She is also survived by her six great-grandchildren; Jordan, Hannah, Dylan, Nathan, Gabriel and Trinity; her sister-in-law Annette Emond of Nashua, her sister-in-law Monique Emond of Rock-Forest, Quebec, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Normand, she was pre-deceased by her son Claude Emond, her brother Paul Emond, her sister Lucienne Boucher, her brother-in-law Omer Emond and sister-in-law Rachel Lemay, and brother-in-law Alex Lemay.
Relatives and friends are invited to Leonie's celebration of life on Saturday, August 24th, from 1pm-3pm, at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley St. Nashua, NH.
