Lillian Wohlander Obituary

HUDSON - Lillian “Lil” (Miller) Wohlander, 91, died suddenly Monday, September 21, 2020 at her home. She was the devoted wife of the late Karl A. Wohlander who predeceased her on February 4, 2014.  Lil was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts and was the daughter of the late William and Anabelle (Morrison) Miller.

She was employed as a registrar clerk for MIT for many years until her retirement.

Lillian's greatest joys in life came from her family.  Anyone who has spent time with her will have surely heard her stories of 7 girls and 1 boy growing up on Whittier St in Cambridge.  She was blessed with a large, loving, close knit family.  The "silver lining" if you will during this whole COVID pandemic is that she was quarantined for 5 months with her sisters Joan and Elaine at Elaine's house in Kingston.  By their own admission, they sat around the kitchen table for hours drinking tea, sharing stories and laughing.

Her absolute joy came from being married to Karl and raising her daughter in Weymouth, MA.  She was a devoted wife and mother.  When her grandsons Mark and Brian came along, her life was complete.  They were her absolute pride and joy and brought immeasurable happiness to her.

Although petite in stature, her spirit was larger than life.  Her laugh was contagious and she brightened any room she entered.  She was one of the kindest, sweetest people you could meet.  She will be sorely missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Konnie McAfee and her husband Cary of Nashua; her beloved grandson, Brian McAfee USCG; and her sisters, Joan O’Sullivan of Bedford, NH and Elaine Miller of Kingston, MA; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Karl, she was predeceased by her beloved grandson, Mark McAfee and siblings Dot, Eleanor, Ruth, Margie and Billy.

Relatives and friends are invited to Lil’s visitation on TUESDAY, September 29th from 5 until 8 PM at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. Her Funeral Mass will take place on WEDNESDAY, September 30th at 10 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, 216 E. Dunstable Road, Nashua. Interment will follow in New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen, NH.

Due to COVID restrictions, masks will be needed for the church and cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Lillian’s honor to the Military Spouses Club – Holiday Stocking Project; PO Box 2354; Cape May, NJ 08204.  This is an important project run by US Coast Guard wives to provide each recruit at Boot Camp during the Holidays a Holiday stocking stuffed with goodies.  Read more about it here:   https://www.facebook.com/Coast-Guard-Holiday-Stockings-251367138250714/?hc_location=group  https://www.facebook.com/Coast-Guard-Holiday-Stockings-251367138250714/?hc_location=group
