Lt. Col. Gordon Rollins Obituary

Lt. Col. Gordon Craig Rollins (US Army, retired) 81, died peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2023. He is the beloved husband of Doris (Poliquin) Rollins with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.

Gordon was born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 7, 1942, and was the son of the late George W. and Nellie (Smith) Rollins. He graduated from North Quincy High School and later attended Norwich University in Vermont. Following his undergraduate, Gordon attended and graduated from University of Southern California with his master’s degree and furthered his education at Virginia Tech. Gordon was an extremely accomplished and determined man.

He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he did two tours of duty. His 20-year career within the military brought many jobs and accolades to include working with families of the POW/MIA and NATO. He earned the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star.

Gordon loved golf and was a lifelong Boston Celtics fan. He often shared memories of his childhood to include staying up late in his bed, under his covers, listening to the Celtics game on his portable radio. Gordon was very active and enjoyed outdoor activities including skiing and in his younger years, he was N. Quincy High School’s, City Champ for cross country, an Eagle Scout and sang in the local church choir and college Choral. He will be remembered as being a mentor, loyal friend and family member and will be missed deeply.

In addition to his wife, Doris, he is survived by his two children, Dawn Belliveau and her husband David of Merrimack, NH and Craig Rollins and his wife Ann of Castle Rock, CO; his four grandchildren, Donovan Belliveau and his wife Mikayla Hanrahan, Sarah Belliveau, Mackenzie Rollins, and Michaela Rollins. He is also survived by his siblings, Richard Rollins and his wife Iris of Westminster, MA, and Helen Healey of Pembroke, MA; as well as many nieces and nephews.

At the request of Gordon’s family, all services will be held in June.  Interment and presentation of military honors will be held in Norwich University Cemetery, Northfield, VT. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Gordon’s honor to the Norwich Fund at Norwich University:  or by mailing it to Norwich University, The Norwich Fund in memory of Gordon Rollins, 158 Harmon Drive, Northfield, VT 05663.
