Marco P. Melo, 41, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Lawrence General Hospital. He is the beloved husband of Amanda (Greenwaldt) Melo with whom he shared a little over 1 year of marriage with.
Marco was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on May 11, 1983, and is the son of Mario Melo and Maria (Goulart) Lafrance. He received his education in the Salem, New Hampshire School System and attended Salem High School.
Most recently, he was employed as a CDL driver for Pepsi Cola for the past five years and prior to he worked in landscaping and construction.
Marco lived life with an infectious energy and a heart full of passion for the things—and people—he loved. An avid collector of sports memorabilia, Marco especially cherished anything tied to the Chicago Bulls, his all-time favorite team. A true Bulls aficionado and a devoted Michael Jordan fan, his eyes would light up anytime the conversation turned to basketball. He found his peace in the great outdoors, especially while camping with his family at Twin River and Greenmeadow Campgrounds and loved nothing more than a weekend spent four-wheeling through rugged trails. Marco never missed a family dinner, where laughter and Portuguese dishes filled the air—both of which he deeply treasured. His love for his heritage was matched only by his love for family and fun. With the biggest personality in the room, he was a shining star—always ready with a joke, a story, or the perfect comment to get someone riled up in the most loving, hilarious way. That was Marco—funny, bold, and full of heart.
In addition to his wife, Amanda, he is survived by his parents, Mario Melo of Salem, NH and Maria Lafrance and her husband Jason of Nashua; his two brothers, Helder Melo and his wife Jenna of Raymond and Tyler Lafrance of Nashua; his four step-children Layla Greenwaldt, Lauren Greenwaldt, Jaden Greenwaldt, and Joshua Avery; his nephews Gage and Micah Melo; his niece, Nikki-Jo Snyder and her husband Nate; as well as many other nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Cindy Greenwaldt of Tuftonboro, NH; his godfather, Ruben Goulart and his wife Marilia as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
