Marilyn Gorman Obituary

Marilyn Ann “Marlie” Gorman, 69, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on January 11, 2020, following a long battle with COPD and cancer.

Marilyn was born on April 26, 1950, in Fort Fairfield, Maine to John and Winifred (Pelletier) Gorman. Marilyn resided in Phoenix, Arizona, for much of her adult life, but returned to her New England roots and settled in Londonderry, NH one year ago to be closer to family.

Our beautiful and spirited sister had a true zest for life; she particularly embraced her Irish heritage and inherited the same appreciation of and talent for music that her parents had. Marilyn’s abiding love for her family and her faith were ever present. Her incredible courage and amazing strength were a source of inspiration and admiration to all who knew her.

Although she will be deeply missed, she will stay forever in our hearts and memories. Forever our alpha dog, God speed, Minnin!

Marilyn was predeceased by her parents and her former husband, Gregory Verosic. She is survived by her daughter, Ariana Verosic of Phoenix, AZ; her granddaughter, Cheyenne Kellis of San Francisco, CA; her six siblings and their spouses: James Gorman and Jean (Putnam) Gorman of Moneta, VA, Peter Gorman and Susan (Manus) Gorman of Carrabassett Valley, ME, Roberta Gorman Fair and Gregory Fair of Camden, DE, Debra Gorman Fouts and Mark Fouts of Eau Claire, WI, Rochelle Gorman Walczak and Robert Walczak of Londonderry, NH, and Patricia Gorman Anderson and Dano Anderson of Hampstead, NH; an aunt, Sr. Theresa Pelletier, OSU, of Waterville, ME; an uncle and an aunt, Richard Pelletier and Andrea (Ayoob) Pelletier of Fort Fairfield, ME, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Our family would like to thank all of Marlie’s close friends, both near and far, for their love and support. In addition, we are deeply grateful to Deacon Mark, Father Bob, and the many volunteers from Saint Jude’s Parish in Londonderry, NH, who were an invaluable source of strength and faith for her; they demonstrated the truest meaning of a loving community through their unwavering assistance and care. Finally, we thank the many medical caregivers who assisted her over the course of her cancer and COPD battles.

A funeral mass is planned for later this month at St. Jude’s parish in Londonderry, NH. A final mass and interment are planned for the mid-summer in Fort Fairfield, Maine.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marlie’s memory may be made either to St. Jude’s Parish, 435 Mammoth Road, Londonderry, NH, 03053 or The Parish of the Precious Blood (St. Denis Parish), Main Street, Fort Fairfield, ME, 04742.
