Mary Cunningham Sullivan, age 92, passed away peacefully on January 10 at the Nashua Post Acute Center. Mary was born on January 23, 1933, in New Rochelle, New York, to the late Francis and Adelaide (Murnane) Cunningham. She spent much of her working life in customer service, first as a telephone operator with the New York Telephone Company and later as a cashier at a local supermarket.
She was the beloved wife of the late Donald Sullivan, who passed away in 1993.
Mary was deeply committed to serving her community. She was well known for her kindness and willingness to help others. She was a 25-year volunteer with Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), where she devoted over 17,400 hrs. of time, received The President’s Volunteer Service Gold Award for her participation in the Big Brother and Big Sister program, Nahua Soup Kitchen mailings, Pen Pal program and gave her time at Ledge Street School along with knitting and donating countless hats and mittens to the students.
Mary will be remembered for her generosity, strong work ethic, and dedication to the people and causes she cared about.
Mary is survived by her seven children Mary, Mark, Bernadette, Donald Jr., Noreen, Lawrence and Denise; her siblings Peg, John, and Paul; 20 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son Matthew Sullivan.
There will be no formal services. Mary will be interred at a later date at her family plot at St Peter’s & Paul Cemetery in Springfield, Pennsylvania.
