Mary Torosian Obituary

Mary Korontjis Torosian, 88 years old, died peacefully on June 17, 2021 with her family by her side.  A life- long resident of Nashua, Mary was the daughter of the late Andrew & Julia Korontjis.

Mary, known as ‘Becca’ to her siblings, was a graduate of Nashua High School, Class of 1950 . She attended the Nashua School of Business and as a young adult, Mary went to work for Jamie Shoe Company and it was there she met her future husband and the Love of Her Life, George Torosian.  George and Mary married on June 28, 1953.  For a number of years, Mary was a stay-at-home mom, caring for her husband and mother, while raising her four children.  She worked for The PLUS Company and spent more than 30 years at Gateways Community Services until she retired in 2006.  Mary was an active member of St Phillip Greek Orthodox Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Daughters of Penelope.  Mary enjoyed Greek cooking and loved to make her famous spanakopita as requested by friends and family.  Most of all, Mary loved hosting family events, including pool parties for her children and grandchildren, whom she adored, and holiday gatherings at the Torosian home.  Saturday night cribbage with her friends, Litsa & Jerry Delage, was another favorite of Mary’s.

Mary was pre-deceased by her brother Theodore Korontjis, her sister, Theodora (Lola) Zarvis, her sons-in-law, Richard Noel, Sr & David Titus, her great-grandson, Anthony Perez and other family members Nicholas Salis, Betty Diccio.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, George Torosian. Her children: Margaret Titus, Judith Noel & Michael Murray, Lisa & Rocky Moreau and George & Jennifer Torosian.  Her grandchildren: Melissa & Nick Werner; Angela & Jared McCrum; Nicole & Scott Lacroix, Rebecca & Ivan Perez, Matthew Noel & Katelyn Van Eron, Jonathan & Katie Moreau; Donna & Hunter Clement; Owen & Sadie Torosian.  Mary served as a surrogate mother to her niece Leni Hodgins, and nephew Dr. Dean Giftos, following her sister Lola’s death.  Other family members include Mary Poliquin of Nashua and Renee Jeffreys of Lowell, MA.   Mary is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and many, many close friends.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Mary’s caregivers in her final months- Destiny, Emily, Jessie and Kasie.  All provided Mary with the care she needed, for which the family is eternally grateful.
