Maurice Paul Gilbert, 78, of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 11, 2023, at Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH, following complications from a fall.
Maurice was born on April 5, 1945, to Leopold Gilbert and Jeanne Chaput (Allard) in Manchester, NH. He studied Accounting at New Hampshire College, now known as Southern New Hampshire University, and went on to get his Masters of Science in Taxation at Bentley University in 1981.
While studying for his Masters, he started his first job working for the State of New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration. He was promoted many times and ended up as the Director of Audit when he "retired" in 2004. Not one to enjoy sitting around, he ended up starting his own CPA practice and eventually began the next phase of his career working for Divine Millimet as the Director of State Taxation where he worked for another 17 years.
A life-long resident of New Hampshire, he is survived by his wife of 27 years, Kay; his two sons Christopher and Stephen; stepchildren David, Ben, and Christy; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he adored; and his two dogs Snickers and Bailey. He was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd in Nashua.
A local sports fan, he attended numerous Patriots and Red Sox games. He was also a Paw Sox season ticket holder for a number of years and was finally able to see the Worcester Red Sox for the first time in June. He also enjoyed traveling, had become fond of cruising, and also had multiple upcoming vacations planned.
There are no events planned, as he did not wish to have services.
