Maurice A Vaillancourt, 90, of Litchfield, NH passed away peacefully on July 22,2020. Maurice was born on July 16, 1930. The son of the late Charles and Beatrice (Ricard) Vaillancourt. He was the husband of Lucienne (Caron) Vaillancourt of Litchfield, NH. Maurice was a lifelong resident of Nashua before moving to Litchfield. He was educated by the Brothers of Sacred Heart and graduated from Nashua High School in 1949. Maurice worked at Bergeron’s Men’s Store and Bessy Bryant’s prior to enlisting in the Army. Maurice served in the United States Army during the Korean War for 6 years with the rank of Sergeant First Class. While in the Army, he attended Southeastern Signal School and was certified as a military cryptographer in the signal corps from Camp Gordon, GA in 1951. Maurice was stationed at the Pentagon in Washington, DC, SHAPE Headquarters and the American Embassy in Paris, France. He worked at the US Post Office in Nashua for 37 years where he was awarded Outstanding Letter Carrier of the Year in 1994 and 1995.
Besides his wife of 68 years, Maurice is survived by his five children: Michael Vaillancourt and his wife Tina of Monson, MA; Suzanne Farnsworth and her husband Gary of Merrimack, NH; Carol Goldman of Hudson, NH; Lisa Bowker and her husband Theron of Weare, NH; and Marc Vaillancourt of Amherst, NH and his fiancée Laura Rallis of Milford, NH. Nine Grandchildren: Michael Vaillancourt and his wife Kyleigh of Monson, MA, Daniel Vaillancourt of Monson, MA, and Stephen Vaillancourt and his wife Jessica of Monson, MA; Eric Farnsworth and his wife Sheila of Merrimack, NH, Ryan Farnsworth and his wife Abby of Milford, NH; Elizabeth Holm and her husband Michael of Pflugerville, TX and Melissa Sherwin and her husband Eric of Derry, NH; Jonathan Bowker of Philadelphia, PA and Timothy Bowker of Weare, NH. Seven great grandchildren and one step great grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
Maurice was predeceased by 4 brothers: George, Robert, Roger and Gerard Vaillancourt and 4 sisters: Annette Lavallee, Rachel Boulanger, Rita Brisson, and Yvette Caron.
A private celebration of life will be held for immediate family.
