Norman Judkins, Jr. Obituary

Norman L. Judkins Jr. “Normie” died at age 64 on Saturday, March 7th at 4:11 a.m. after suffering a brief illness at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, New Hampshire.

Norman was born in Exeter, New Hampshire on October 24, 1955 to his parents, Lois Keaton Judkins (predeceased in 1978) and Norman L. Judkins Sr. (predeceased in 2005). He resided in Laconia, NH most recently.

He would tell you that he graduated from the school of hard knocks and wasn't afraid to educate himself in all walks of life. Nothing was beneath him, and nothing was too far out of his reach. He was a dreamer, an engineer, a philosopher, an entrepreneur, and a “family first” kind of man. He loved astrology and the study of space. He was a self taught musician and could often be found strumming the Eagles on his left hand strung guitar. His voice was a cross of Bob Seger and Don Henley and he loved to sing. Ham Radio was a deep passion and his call sign was N1LPJ. He taught his children morse code and the phonetic alphabet along with his learning.

Auto mechanics were a lifelong passion of his and he passed that on to his son and grandsons. His daughters hold the legacy of his sense of humor and his self confidence. There was nothing he couldn't turn into a funny story or a tall tale that had you on the edge of your seat and no one could tell an inappropriate joke the way he could.

His wife Deborah was his world and he never wanted to be without her. He always tried his best to bring her dreams to life for her, and was never afraid to take risks to do this.

After the birth of their son in 1974, Norman married the love of his life, Deborah Gibney Judkins on March 12, 1974. This would have been their 46th anniversary.

He is survived by his 3 children: Norman L. Judkins III of St. Johnsbury, VT. Jamie Lynn Judkins and her fiance Casey Locke of Lisbon, NH. Bobbi Ewing and her husband Joseph of Ashburnham, MA.

He is survived by several of his beloved grandchildren, Dakota Humphrey and her significant other Frank Hovey of East Burke, VT, Norman L. Judkins IV of Lisbon, NH, Jordyn Judkins of Derry, NH, David Noyes of Barnet, VT, Dalice Noyes of Barnet, VT, Dalton Avery of Lisbon, NH, and Grace Ewing of Ashburnham MA. He was predeceased by a beautiful granddaughter Dani-Rae who passed shortly after her birth in 2009.

He adored his great granddaughters and they called him their “poppa” Harlee Lacourse and Hadley Hovey of East Burke, VT.

He is also survived by his sister Debbie Pederson of Boyertown, Pennsylvania and his brother Mark Judkins of Springfield VT

Norman was predeceased by his brother Stephen Judkins in 2012 and his sister Linda Supry in 2015. He has several nieces and nephews who he held a special place for in his heart.

Norman was never without a friend and could talk to anyone about anything and so he leaves many dear friends as well.

A celebration of his life will be held this Sunday, March 15th from 11am - 3pm at the Elks Lodge of Laconia located at 17 Sugarbush Lane, Gilford, NH 03249

Together his wife Deborah and his children invite family and friends to come share stories, offer condolences, and help us to move on in this life without him.

“N1LPJ, Over and Out” ~ Forever a silent key.
