Omer J. Cormier, 83, of Nashua, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 5, 2023. Omer was born October 10, 1939, to the late Alexandre and Corinne (LeBlanc) Cormier in New Brunswick, Canada.
Omer attended high school in New Brunswick. He then immigrated to the United States and went on to volunteer for and serve in the United States Army where he became a paratrooper, a computer technician, and a US citizen. In 1983, Sergeant First Class Cormier retired from the Army and was honorably discharged. Following his service, Omer moved with his family to New Hampshire, where he worked as a computer repairman for several years.
In his younger days, he enjoyed golfing, but spent most of his retirement years being an avid reader, always looking for a good book, story, or article to explore. He was also a dedicated sports enthusiast and cheered on his favorite New England Sports teams. Omer was also a member of the Lafayette Club.
Omer is survived by his wife Elda (Thibodeau) Cormier of Nashua, his sons Richard Cormier of Concord, Colonel (ret) Daniel and his wife Christine of Newport, RI, his sister Maria Cormier of New Brunswick, Canada, his brother Alexandre Cormier and his wife Yvette of New Brunswick, Canada, and 2 grand-children Nickolas Cormier and his wife Alexa, and Madison Cormier.
Omer was predeceased by his son, US Army Specialist Lomer Cormier.
Omer will be interred at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH at the convenience of his family.
