Patricia Goullaud Obituary

Patricia “Pattie” Ruth Goullaud, 73, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024. She was married to the love of her life, Joseph Gerard Goullaud Sr., for 23 years until his passing on May 19, 1996.

Pattie was born in Arlington, MA on June 22, 1951, and is the daughter of the late John and Jean (Aulenback) Colliton. She attended Arlington public schools and graduated from Arlington High in 1969. Pattie then attended UMass Amherst for her undergraduate degree and went on to Salem State where she completed her master’s degree in education. Pattie was passionate about teaching and spent nearly 40 years teaching children to read at Bishop Elementary School in Arlington, MA as a reading specialist.

In her free time, Pattie loved to read and crochet blankets for her extensive family. Every year she looked forward to hosting both sides of her family for Christmas, with a fully decorated house and twelve-plus foot Christmas tree.  She was the first to arrive and the last to leave at every family party and was always up for a spontaneous road trip, near or far. Pattie’s favorite place was York Beach, Maine, where she enjoyed vacationing with family at Short Sands beach. Most of all, Pattie cherished the moments she spent with her four grandchildren.

Pattie is survived by her two children, Katelyn Waldron and her husband Ben of Londonderry, and Joseph Goullaud Jr. and his wife Teresa of Salem; her four grandchildren, Mason, Scott and Evan Waldron, and Joseph Paul Goullaud; her sister Jean Thompson of Arlington, MA; as well as dozens of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Pattie was predeceased by her husband Joseph Goullaud Sr; her sister Mary O’Rourke; and her brothers-in-law Mark Thompson and James O’Rourke, Sr.

In 2015, Pattie was the recipient of a double lung transplant. That family’s gift of organ donation allowed her to extend her life by eight and a half years, which allowed her to be a part of both of her children’s weddings and become a Nana. If you wish to honor Pattie’s memory, her family requests that you consider registering as an organ donor at organdonor.gov.
