OBITUARY- PEDRO A. CERNUDA

NASHUA- Pedro A. Cernuda, 71, died peacefully Palm Sunday, April 5, 2020, with family at his side, physically and in spirit.

Pedro was born in Havana, Cuba on November 26, 1948 and was the son of the late Armando J. and Irene (Sanchez) Cernuda. He was a graduate of Nashua Senior High School with the class of 1969 and continued his education at the Art University in Boston.

For many years, he worked in construction for  Cernuda and Sons, Inc. and for Locall 33 - Carpenters Union in Boston, MA.

Pedro was an avid baseball fan and later became an all-sports fan. His constant love for sports established and prolonged many friendships and family ties. 

He was also artistic and loved to paint; he painted Sesame Street murals, portraits, landscapes and even did a large canvas of The Three Wise Men for a Christmas Cantata at Main St. United Methodist Church.  

Above all, his most cherished time was spent with his family and friends and watching Bible Studies every morning and Catholic Mass in the evening on TV. 

Pedro is survived by his best friend, Tina Lagasse of Nashua; his five siblings, George Cernuda and his wife Betty, Robert Cernuda and his wife Maria, Olga Fernandez and her husband Mario, Hilda Slosek and her husband John, and Mercedes Cernuda, all of Nashua. He is also survived by his former wife Maria Frietas of Nashua and (9) nieces and nephews, (13) great-nieces and great-nephews and (3) great-great nieces & nephews; and many cousins in the US and Cuba.

He was predeceased by his beloved stepdaughter, Lucy Rodriguez on April 24, 1987 as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Due to current public health and safety concerns, funeral services for Pedro will be limited to immediate family members and held privately. His interment will take place in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Nashua at a later date. Donations may be made in Pedro’s name to the Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter, 2 Quincy St., Nashua, NH 03060,  or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements entrusted to the care of ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES.
