Raymond “Pep” Gerard Cote Jr., 65, of Amherst, NH died peacefully in his home on Sunday, May 30th from a short battle of cancer.
Raymond was born on November 9, 1955 in Nashua, NH to Raymond G. Cote, Sr. and Yolande J. (Lepine) Cote. Raymond was raised in Londonderry, NH. As a child, he loved to go fishing, camping, and building model rockets. He was always mischievous growing up. One day, his parents found a chair that was all torn up. They asked him if he did it. He replied “no,” but later when they said it looked like someone used a knife, Ray spoke up and said “No, I used a fork!”
He always wanted to know how things worked. Before the age of three, he would sneak out of his crib in the middle of the night and walk down the street to ask his cousins to come out and play. After a couple of times, they covered his crib to prevent him from getting out. His father stayed up all night one night and discovered that Ray would lift the mattress up from the bottom and climb out from under the crib. He attended Pinkerton Academy and later got his GED.
Raymond was a member of the Club National with his close friends. He enjoyed taking rides on his motorcycle but after his illness chose to get a convertible, which he enjoyed right up until his death. He was a family man and always worked hard to take his family on vacations. They enjoyed camping, the White Mountains, Vermont, Disney World, etc. Ray took his first out of the country vacation with Kelly in 2019 to Aruba. He was always making people laugh. He was very close to his two grandchildren and did anything to spend time with them and spoil them. His granddaughter referred to him as the smartest man. She would ask her mom a question and when she did not know the answer, Raelyn would say “Is that a Pep question?”
Raymond is survived by his wife, Kelly M. Murphy of Amherst, NH; his daughter, Elizabeth R. Cote, and her significant other, Corey Shay, of Derry, NH; his two grandchildren, Raelyn E. Bearor and Arlen A. Shay; his two step children, Nicholas T. Morris of Jacksonville, FL and Ian R. Morris of Boston; his two brothers, Thomas J. Cote of Londonderry, NH and Wade R. Cote along with his spouse Scott A. Parent of Lyndeborough, NH; and many brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Raymond is predeceased by his first wife, Donna M. (Denton) Cote; his parents, Raymond G. Cote, Sr. and Yolande J. (Lepine) Cote; his sister Susan L. (Cote) Cable; and his niece, Jennifer A. Cable.
