Rita C. (Berube) Dichard

Rita C. (Berube) Dichard, 94, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward A. Dichard, Jr. They were high school sweethearts and married on May 7, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas. They shared 62 years of marriage prior to his passing on September 23, 2011.

Rita was born in Nashua, New Hampshire on July 4, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Francis X. and Pauline (Lafrance) Berube. Rita graduated from Nashua High School and attended Keene State.

She lived her busy life in Nashua and made many friends while working at Sprague Electric and International Paper Box. At the age of 50, she attended Hesser College and became a travel agent, a career she aspired to as a young girl but prioritized raising her large family with her cherished husband. She worked at Oliver Travel and retired from Allways Travel.

After her retirement, Rita enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially during her 4th of July celebrations for her birthday. She spent numerous summers at her home in Northwood Lake, her winters at her sunny North Myrtle Beach condo and in between happily resided with her daughter Edie and her son-in-law Dennis. She loved dancing with Ed, playing cards and games with her children, and knitting hats and scarfs and last but not least, traveling. Rita and Ed were world travelers, visiting many destinations.

In her own words, Rita lived a rich, full, and happy life with her cherished late husband and her family. She was thankful for all the blessings along the way.

She is survived by her five sons, Michael Dichard and his wife Cindy, Steve Dichard and his wife Colleen, Allan Dichard and his wife Louise, Thomas Dichard and his wife Louise; and Douglas Dichard and his wife Tracy; her daughter Edie Rainville and her husband Dennis; her 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Rita was predeceased by her siblings, Pauline Harwood and her husband Robert and Paul Berube and his wife Elizabeth.

Relatives and friends are invited to Rita’s visitation on WEDNESDAY, September 6th from 5 until 7 PM at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on THURSDAY, September 7th at 10 AM in St. Louis de Gonzague Church, 48 W Hollis Street, Nashua. Interment to follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Hudson.
