Robert Gamache Obituary

NASHUA- Robert A. ‘Joe’ Gamache, 83, died peacefully Thursday, March 5, 2020, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack surrounded by his loving family. Joe is the beloved husband of Simonne (Lemay) Gamache with whom he would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this July.

Joe was born in Nashua on July 5, 1936 and was the son of the late Marie (Gingras) Gamache. He proudly served in the United States Navy until he was honorably discharged in September of 1959. As his OI Division Leader once said in a letter of recommendation, “ …recognition to be given to Robert Gamache, Radarman 2nd class, for the fine service rendered to his country and to this ship during his tour of duty. Gamache was one who could be depended upon for any job, including many of those normally reserved for officers.”

After his navy career he attended Lowell tech at night while raising his young family.  He held several positions during his career.  He was an electronic technician, service manager and quality control manager during his 38 years at American Electromedics.  He then worked part time calibrating hearing instruments at schools all over New England.

In his free time, Joe was an absolute avid bowler. For the past 50 years he has participated in his bowling league, twice a week, at Merrimack Ten Pin. He was extremely proud of his perfect game he accomplished on April 10, 2008. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sports. In his younger years, he loved playing baseball and later in life played for a senior league in Cooperstown, NY. Joe will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. Above all, he truly cherished time spent with his loving family.

In addition to his wife, Simonne, he is survived by his four children, Michael Gamache and his wife Lisa of Nashua, Lisa Goguen and her husband John of Nashua, Susan Labrie and her husband Joseph of Hudson, and Nicole Young and her husband Ronald of Milford; his nine grandchildren, Krystal Crawford and her husband Nick, Chad Gamache, Kady Goguen, Ryan Gamache, Colleen Gamache, Thomas Labrie, Jacob Young, Rebecca Labrie, and Avery Young. He is also survived by his great-grandson, Nolan Crawford, his two sisters, Irene Boucher of Nashua, and Pauline Lamb of Hudson; many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and dear friends.

Joe was predeceased by his two brothers, Armand and Ferdinand Gamache as well as his sister Pearl Sciuto.

Relatives and friends are invited to Joe’s visitation on MONDAY, March 9th from 4 until 7 PM at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua.
