Robert E Gillis, 67, of Nashua, NH, passed away at home on March 31, 2021. Bobby will always be known for his quick wit, sense of humor, one-liners, and all puns intended. Always a laugh when Bobby was in the room. He was a devoted husband and father, a true friend, a hard worker, and if you gave him a Miller High Life, he was a philosopher. Loving the outdoors and sunshine, Bobby spent his free time embracing the elements. Any excuse to take a walk in the woods, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and all that nature had to offer.
In his early days, he ran around Boston like he ran the city. Dorchester boy, through and through. With family and friends, Gilbone enjoyed good times, good laughs, and good music. Along the way he discovered the love of his life- beloved wife, Janet, and they had a family. A man of commitment, he provided for his family through Teamsters Local 25 during his 33 years of service at W.H. Lailer Co. He will always be remembered for his warmth, wisdom, and wise cracks.
He was an avid fisherman and looked forward to Spring every year. He also kept an eye on the tide charts so he could fish on the shores of Plum Island, one of his favorite places. Bobby was always up for a drive and over the years shared his favorite places with his wife and kids. Bobby and Janet spent many summers in the White Mountains camping along the Kancamagus and visiting Wayne, hiking Diana’s Bath, Cathedral Ledge and Glen Ellis Falls. Quite a few April vacations were spent in hotels so the kids could have the pool to themselves. In the last few years, with the children all grown and on their own, Bobby and Janet were able to make a couple more escapes. One to adventure Aruba and another gallivanting Yellowstone and the wild west for two weeks.
Those who have been close to Bobby have seen his resilience and perseverance. He lost his fight to cancer after 10 courageous months. Adored husband of Janet (Clinton) of 33 years and embraced father of three, Sean Gillis, Jessica Gillis and her partner, Raphael Moran, and Colleen Gillis.
