Rolande A. “Rosie” Alain, 92, died peacefully Friday, May 20, 2022, at the Hunt Community surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Leonard W. Alain with whom she shared 60 years of marriage.
Rosie was born in Nashua on June 2, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Roland and Victoire (Lussier) Desmarais. She attended schools in the Nashua School System and graduated from Nashua High School.
In her early years, she was employed at her family-owned convenience store, Roland’s Variety on Kinsley Street in Nashua. She later co-owned and operated Lenny’s Gulf Station on Amherst Street in Nashua with her husband until her retirement.
In her free time, Rosie enjoyed knitting especially knitting pieces for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid gardener; roses were her specialty. She was in charge of the upkeep on the rose bushes at The Hunt where she resided. Rosie traveled to many destinations with her late husband from across the United States, Europe, and France. She loved to play dominos, “Mexican Train” as well as making puzzles. Her handmade puzzles would be donated to the Nashua Senior Center or to the Grey Nuns. Above all, her most cherished time was spent with her family, most importantly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the light of her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Anita Morris and her husband Wayne of Fort Myers, FL, her two grandchildren Brenna Hendrick and her husband Ian of Grantham, NH and Victoria Young and her husband Justin of Greenville, NC. She is also survived by her three great-grandchildren, Estelle Hendrick, and Kennedy and Bella Young; her three siblings, Angele “Angie” Bechard of Nashua, Amedee “Medy” Desmarais of Florida, and Leona “Tootsie” Morin and her husband Jerry of Nashua; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Leonard, her parents, Roland and Victorie, she is also predeceased by her brother Lucien “Luke” Desmarais.
Relatives and friends are invited to Rosie’s visitation on WEDNESDAY, May 25th from 8 until 9:30 AM at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM in St. Louis de Gonzague Church, W. Hollis Street, Nashua. Interment will follow in St. Louis Cemetery, Nashua.
