Ruth J. Peloquin, age 88, of Nashua, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2020 from complications due to a stroke. She was a daughter of the late Joseph and Marieanne (Guilmette) Peloquin. Ruth was born in Lowell, MA on October 26, 1931 and was the youngest of nine children.
Miss Peloquin attended Presentation of Mary Academy in Hudson, NH and went on to St. Joseph’s High School in Lowell, MA. She furthered her education in a two-year Business Program at the Lowell Commercial College where she graduated in 1951. Two years after college graduation, Miss Peloquin began a successful career at New England Telephone in 1953. She started in the Lowell, MA office eventually moving to the Metheun, MA office. Ruth retired in 1981, after 28 years of service, at the age of 50.
During her employment at New England Telephone Ruth lived in Lowell, MA and, in 1967, moved to a home in Chelmsford, MA with her sister Germaine. In 1988, Ruth and her sister moved to Greenwood Apartments in Nashua, NH. In 2000, after her sister Germaine’s death, Ruth moved to Davidson Landing on Ledge Street in Nashua, NH and lived there for 12 years where she made new life-long friendships with several special people.
Active in the Nashua community, Ruth was a Big Sister in the local chapter and also volunteered for the Soup Kitchen. Ruth enjoyed traveling, taking many trips with her brother Marcel and sister Germaine. When she was growing up she enjoyed summer vacations with her family at Hampton Beach and also enjoyed spending time at her family’s summer home on Long-Sought-For Pond in Westford, MA. Ruth was an avid Red Sox fan and loved going to Foxwoods where she went with her sisters and her friends. Ruth enjoyed arts & crafts and painting. She loved going to Cape Cod and always referred to it as her “second home”. Ruth was a communicant of Saint Louis de Gonzague church.
Besides her parents Ruth is pre-deceased by her brothers and sisters, Albina Peloquin, Therese Peloquin, Laval U. Peloquin, M.D., Cecile Pappalardo R.N., Reverend Marcel Peloquin, O.M.I., Germaine Peloquin, R.N, Claire D. Anderson, R.D., and Lucy Laquerre.
She is also pre-deceased by her nephew Pierre Barrette, niece Pauline Barrette, brother-in-law Wilfred Laquerre (husband of Lucy), brother-in-law Patrick Pappalardo (husband of Cecile), brother-in-law David W. Anderson (husband of Claire), and sister-in-law Marthe B. Peloquin (wife of Laval).
Ruth is survived by several nieces and nephews, Laval A. Peloquin, M.D. and his wife Laura of Washburn, IA, Louise M. Peloquin, Ph.D and her husband Patrick Faré of Paris, France/Groton, MA, Bernard Peloquin and his wife Judi of Westford, MA, Marie M. Peloquin, M.D. and her husband Fleaszer Doza of Wakefield, MA, John Pappalardo and his wife Karen of Duxbury, MA, Marieanne Sestito and her husband Anthony of Hingham, MA, Mark Pappalardo and his wife Lori of Whitman, MA, Patricia C. Kennedy, MEd and her husband Daniel of Yarmouthport, MA, and Michael Anderson and his wife Reneé of Nashua, NH. Ruth is also survived by several great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.
A special thanks to Dr. Raymond King and his nurse Linda Morrisette for their dedicated help and friendship all these years.
During the last 8 years Ruth lived with her nephew, Michael, his wife Reneé, and their children Kiefer and Krysten. Colleen Dowling, Kiefer’s fiancée, was also a big part of Ruth’s life for the last five years.
Ruth also leaves behind her four-legged family members Belle (a.k.a Peewee), Bandit, and Milo. She loved them all, especially Belle. They gave her great joy and comfort.
An hour of visitation will take place Thursday morning, July 16, 2020 beginning at 8:30 AM in the Rochette Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 21 Kinsley St., Nashua. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday July 16, 2020 at 10:00 AM in St. Louis de Gonzague Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford, MA.
