Sylviane M.J. Wright

Nashua - Sylviane M.J. (Marquis) Wright, 89, a lifelong resident of Nashua, died peacefully on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at St. Joseph Hospital. Sylviane was born in Nashua on August 9, 1931, and was the beloved daughter of the late Jean Baptiste and Eva (Soucy) Marquis. She attended schools in the Nashua School System and was a graduate of Nashua High School, class of 1950. She then continued her education, attending Nashua Business College, Northern New England School of Banking, as well as the New England School of Banking at Williams College, graduating in 1981.

During her time attending school, Sylviane was employed by Indian Head National Bank in March 1951 until June 1952. She also worked for Sears Roebuck and Company as a bookkeeper from 1955 until 1958. In 1967, Sylviane returned to Indian Head Bank and worked as an administrative officer until August 1981 when she was promoted to Vice President of Indian Head National Bank of Nashua, where she remained until her retirement in 1988.

During her working years, Sylviane volunteered with the New Hampshire Bankers Personnel Committee as Chairman, Nashua Adult Learning Center as President, National Association of Bank Women as Vice Chairman as well as Chairman, and she was also a member of the American Institute of Banking. She was a communicant of St. Joseph the Worker Parish for many years. During her retirement, she enjoyed gardening, quilting, and spending time with her friends.

Sylviane is survived by her daughters, Donna Marie Hall of Nashua and Cynthia Ann Pitsios of Nashua; her son, Steven Allen Wright of Nashua; her grandson, Matthew Pitsios; and great-grandson, Logan Pitsios. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Pauline (Richard) Marquis, sister-in-law Claire (Robert) Wright, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Conrad and Richard Marquis, and sister-in-law Laurette (Conrad) Marquis.

Relatives and friends are invited to Sylviane’s Funeral Mass on Tuesday, April 27 at 10 AM at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 777 W. Hollis Street, Nashua. Kindly meet at the church, masks are required. Interment to follow at St. Louis Cemetery, Nashua. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sylviane’s name to The Plus Company, 19 Chestnut Street, Nashua, NH 03060.
