Tammy O'Toole Obituary

Tammy Ann O’Toole, 61, died unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, October 14, 2021.

Tammy was born in Milton, Massachusetts on January 11, 1960, and was the daughter of the late Nancy (Tabor) and John Gustafson.

For many years, she was employed as a secretary in the special education department of Nashua schools. Later she worked at Road Scholar, a job she enjoyed immensely and which allowed her to travel across the United States.

In her free time, Tammy enjoyed cooking, especially for family gatherings, cross stitch and hunting for bargains at yard sales and thrift stores. She adored all things purple, voraciously devoured word searches and puzzle games, and had an ear for music; her favorites were Keane, the Adam Ezra Band, the radio station 92.5 The River and local musical theatre productions.

Tammy had a deep love for animals. Her steadfast companions during her final years were her beloved cats; she was predeceased by Tut, Shadow and Bear, and survived by Miss Luna Petunia. She fondly doted on Lucky the cat, plus the rabbits and chinchillas that she counted amongst her grandcritters.

What she loved most of all were the people in her life. Tammy volunteered throughout her life, most notably during her childrens’ time at New Searles Elementary. She loved to talk, but also to listen, and she leaves a lasting legacy in her ability to tie up a phone line. She was generous to a fault, and she freely gave her time and love to all those who needed it.

She is survived by her two children, Bryan O’Toole of Nashua and Kelly O’Toole as well as her fiancé Devin Travers, both of Derry; her brother, David Gustafson of Maine; her former husband Marty O’Toole of South Carolina and his extended family, who loved her as a sister; as well as two nieces and one nephew.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tammy’s name to House Rabbit Network at House Rabbit Network, P.O. Box 2602, Woburn, MA 01888 or rabbitnetwork.org/support/donate.
