On Saturday, May 28, 2022, Tyler Jacob Somerville passed away unexpectedly at the age of 22.
Tyler was born in Jenison, Michigan on January 28, 2000, to Kathryn (Katie) Deanna McCan, surprising everyone by arriving two months before his due date. In 2008, Katie and Tyler moved to Mississippi, where he attended the Pearl Public School District and graduated from the high school in 2019.
Tyler had a passion for music. He was a talented guitarist, singer, and above all, percussionist. He participated in the PHS drumline, both marching and competitive, since he was just 12 years old. He exceled on the marching tenor drums. He was a self-taught guitarist who never missed a chance to provide a guitar-strum for singalongs at family gatherings.
In 2020, Tyler relocated to Nashua, New Hampshire, where he found a new community of friends and loved ones. He leaves behind his loving mother, Katie, stepfather Darren (Pink) McCan, and three stepsiblings (Seth, Bennett, and Macee) as well as his long-term girlfriend Brandi Schiavo. He will be sorely missed by his many grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Matthysse Kuiper Degraaf Funeral Home in Grandville, Michigan on June 10th at 2 p.m., with a luncheon to follow.
