Douglas W. Breault Sr.

September 24, 1944 ~ February 17, 2017 (age 72) 72 Years Old

NASHUA- Douglas W. Breault, Sr., age 72 of Nashua, NH died at Massachusetts General Hospital on Friday, February 17, 2017 after a long period of declining health, with his family by his side.

Douglas was born in Medford, Ma on September 24, 1944, the seventh born to Arthur U. Breault and Pauline (Hickey) Breault. Doug attended schools in Medford, and after the death of his mother when he was seven, he spent time in East Boston and then in Tewksbury, where his father bought a new house. As a youngster, he learned the skill of baking bread from the Cucciello’s family bakery in East Boston.

He loved tinkering with cars and began driving race cars while in Tewksbury until the death of his father. He turned this skill with cars into more than a hobby; as a lot of his jobs later on involved driving and caring for cars; he worked at Yaz Ford in Lynn, MA and for Hertz Rent-a-car at Logan Airport. He drove a truck delivering furniture for Ruderman’s Furniture in Malden and when he lived in Melrose became a part of the Melrose Auxiliary Police. Doug was a member of the Danvers Fish and Game Club in Middleton, Ma.

After his move to Nashua, Doug kept busy with baking and cooking and also had other interests; he was for a time a member of the Nashua Police Auxiliary and worked for Bob Henderson. Doug was a member of the Nashua Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol and he enjoyed rocketry and assisting with the cadet programs. He enjoyed camping and riding bikes in the woods at Bear Brook State Park. There was one lake in upstate Vermont that was his favorite. He made many special friends in the Nashua area, from CVS Pharmacy on Daniel Webster, to Lavoie’s Farm in Hollis to Home Depot in Nashua where he always set off the door alarm, to the staff at La Carreta in Nashua to La Legion Barber Shop on Main Street to Triangle Credit Union on Amherst Street and at Market Basket he had friends in Nashua Stores and in Hudson. He loved having a vegetable garden and enjoyed the process from planting to the harvest, he nurtured the plants just as he had done with raising his boys. He enjoyed bringing vegetables to the Nashua Soup Kitchen. He was a beloved curmudgeon.

He leaves behind his loving sons, Randy Breault and his partner Denise, Douglas Breault Jr. and his partner Audrey and Jeffrey Breault. He also leaves his loving wife of 32 years, Karen and his beloved Golden Retriever named Teddy. We will miss him more than words can say.

At Doug’s request, all services were omitted.
