Welcome to the memorial page for

Ida T. Bernier

September 6, 1925 ~ January 21, 2017 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Ida ‘Terri’ Bernier, 91, died peacefully Saturday evening, January 21, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul O. Bernier Sr. whom predeceased her on June 16, 1997.

Terri was born in Berlin, NH on September 6, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Euclid and Laura (Blais) Chauvette.

In her younger years, Terri was employed by Nashua Mills during WWII.  She was a homemaker and mother, and raised her four children. She was later employed by St. Louis Hospital in Berlin, NH, where she enjoyed a housekeeping position.  When she returned to Nashua, she was employed by Nashua Telegraph.

Terri had a great love of music and dancing and also loved entertaining people, she was always the life of the party!  She enjoyed reading, crocheting, puzzle making, and different types of crafts.  During the last year, she was determined to learn how to use a smart phone, tablet, Kindle and Facebook.

Terri enjoyed meeting new people, but above all, her most cherished time was spent with her loving and caring family.

One of her granddaughters described perfectly her true character and personality and how Terri lived a fulfilled life.  In part, this was her description of Terri.

"My grandmother was a free spirit.  She loved life!  I've been reflecting, here are some life lessons I will carry and hope to pass on to younger generations.  1) Wearing high heels and fishnet stockings is completely appropriate at any age.2) Dancing on tables should happen whenever the urge arises. 3) Be sure to find humor in every day of life. 4) Being flirtatious just means you’re enjoying the moment-and there’s no harm in making someone feel special. 5) You’re never too old to learn something new. 6) Beeping your horn at the slow moving people at Walmart is a rite of passage. 7) You decide your destiny so make your choices wisely and enjoy the ride!”

In her later years, "specific angels" on earth were always there to help to sustain independence and provide companionship.  Terri was so grateful! Thank you, Angels!

She will always be remembered for her quick wit, great sense of humor, and being a selfless individual.

She is survived by her children, Pauline Guilmette and her husband Harris of Fairport, NY, Leo Lamontagne of Phoenix, AZ, Roland Lamontagne and his wife Estelle of Berlin, NH, and Maurice Lamontagne of Fairport, NY; her grandchildren, Mary Struzinsky and her husband James, Carole Guilmette, Amy Welch, Kelly Woods and her husband Keith, and Stacie Lamontagne and her wife Victoria; her second family, Paul Bernier and his wife Rachel of Nashua, Donald Bernier and his wife Lynne of Amherst, their children, Steven Bernier, Brian Bernier, Brenda Atallah and her husband Massoud, and Faedra Arwady and her husband Thomas. She is also survived by her eight great-grandchildren and was the "favorite aunt" to many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Terri was predeceased by her siblings, Henry, Irene, Norman, Roland, and Onesime.

At Ida’s request, no calling hours will be held. Her burial will take place on FRIDAY, January 27th at 2 PM in St. Louis Cemetery, Nashua.
