To the Harte Family. I am so sorry to learn of Mary's passing. Sheila and I, (Melvin's sisters) had tried on several occasions to contact Mary without success. I only found her obituary now after performing an internet search with her name and Nashua NH and saw the reference to Melvin.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I wish our condolences were more timely.

I am so sorry to hear of Mary's passing. I loved Mary, she was my roommate at UMASS and a dear friend. Mary was a light, she made everyone smile when she walked in the room. I was delighted to read of all her accomplishments, she had such a big heart it doesn't surprise me she impacted so many lives. I can still her contagious laugh! I will be keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.
With sympathy and love,
Mary

I was very sorry to hear about Mary's passing and offer my deepest condolences to the Harte family. I knew Mary very well during her college years at UMass and the time I spent with her back then is among the funnest times of my life. We used to end up in the most hilarious of situations. She was very sweet and funny and I will never forget those days. I caught up with her when Melvin passed and even though she was deeply saddened, her old 1980's sense of humor was still alive and well. I am very lucky and a better person to have known her.

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mary. I had the privilege of working closely with her when I was the program director of the Bishop Ruocco House. There was no one in the field with the experience, expertise, compassion and integrity of this inspirational woman. Mary taught me so much about how to work with the most difficult young women in the system. She understood what these girls needed and was always there to listen or lend a helping hand. The positive impact she had was evident by the great respect afforded her by the young woman in her care. She was able to reach kids no one else could. What struck me most about Mary was her humbleness and herself deprecating manner. She really had no idea how gifted she was and sadly will never know how her guidance shaped so many young lives. She taught me valuable lessons, I have carried with me for many years . They say God only takes the best, this is certainly a true statement in this case. A life well lived is one in which a person has made a difference in another person's life . Mary has lived well and will be greatly missed by many. My deepest and most sincere condolences to her family and loved ones.

It is hard to find words to adequately express the profound impact that Mary had upon the lives of the young women she so passionately served for over thirty years. Her rare ability to say the unsayable in a sensitive manner, often with a touch of Mary humor, has undoubtedly touched and changed the lives, not only of these young women, but of all those who had the privilege to work with her. Mary often spoke of 'The Rotenberg Special Sauce', when describing why the environment at Rotenberg was so conducive to profound life and behavior change. I spent many hours pondering this 'special sauce', before I ultimately concluded that Mary herself was the most important ingredient of this sauce. Her wisdom, guidance, courage and perhaps most importantly, sense of humor in sensitively dealing with serious behavioral and life issues, were a gift that can never be overestimated. Mary, it was my privilege to work with you for two short years. Rest easy my friend

I am so saddened to hear of Mary's sudden and unexpected passing. She was so humble that I'm not sure she ever fully recognized her strengths or gave herself credit for the many lives she touched among family, friends, clients, employees and her beloved dogs. She was incredibly dedicated for so long, mentoring many young girls to find their way in the world. She offered so much to so many with her intelligence, wisdom, support and guidance but what I will remember most of all is her wicked sense of humor. I hope she's laughing now and glad to be reunited with Mel.

I have prayed for God to watch & rest Mary. I also pray for your family, for stregnth & healing. I often have said that losing a sibling, or parent is like losing part of your being. Something very noticeably missing. I hope in time you will all be better. God Bless all of you.
