Charles G Boghigian, age 96, of Nashua died Tuesday evening following a prolonged illness. He was surrounded by loved ones. Charlie was born March 10, 1917 in Nashua, NH. He is the son of the late George and Vartanoush (Barsamian) Boghigian of Nashua.

Before joining the US Army during World War II Charles, "Kostas", grew up in Nashua's Greek community. Charlie served as a Mess Sergeant in Savannah Georgia and was a proud member of the American Legion Post # 3 in Nashua. His pride in having served his country was evident in his attendance at each Nashua Veteran's Day parade, marching the complete parade route until recent years. Post war, along with running his own cobbler shop, his career was spent as a stitcher at J F McElwain where he also served as union president for the NH Shoeworkers Union. Charlie spent over 20 years running his own shoe repair business in Nashua where he enjoyed conversation with all that stopped in. Upon his final retirement Charlie donated his shoe repair equipment to the City of Nashua for historic preservation and eventual display.

Charlie was a devoted family man and always delighted to have his parents, brothers, sisters, children and grandchildren around him at mealtime as well as holidays. Charlie was known to always have a good joke or two to share. As well Charlie was very proud of his Armenian heritage and was active in his church, St Vartanantz Armenian Church, Chelmsford MA. There he served on the Parish Council along with numerous other committees over the years.

He is survived by his devoted wife Anna, his sister Cora Ozoonian, his sons and daughter in-laws Harry & Carlene Boghigian of Randolph, NJ, Gregory & Adrienne of Windham, NH, Kevin & Heidi Boghigian of Nashua, NH and daughter Linda of Massachusetts in addition to six grandchildren, Christopher, Gregory, Jonathan, Samuel, Anna and Ethan, a sister-in-law, Louise Boghigian of Nashua as well as several, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Simon and Nelson and his sister Theresa (Boghigian) Larchian.

We are so sorry for your loss. Charlie was a great neighbor for 39 years and we will miss him very much, his friendly greetings, chats, jokes and his keeping an eye out on our home when we were away, he made it easier to go away and not worry. The neighborhood won’t be the same without Charlie. Please accept our deepest sympathy. Sincerely, Bert and Doris

We were sorry to learn of the passing of Charlie. Although it has been many years since I last saw him, I enjoyed bringing in my shoes to his Nashua shop, knowing that he would do a professional job of making them look "new" again. At the same time, it was a nice opportunity to hear Charlie tell us about the latest 'doings' of Carlene and Harry, both of whom had moved down to New Jersey since we were neighbors in Merrimack in the 1980's.

To Harry and Carlene, as well as the other members of the Boghigian family, our condolences -- Charlie was a gentleman, and a pleasure to know.

I hope that all of your fond memories comfort you during this time of loss. We will be thinking of you and your family. Bob Cormier
