Welcome to the memorial page for

Cecile Soucy

May 6, 1923 ~ November 25, 2014 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Cecile (Bouchard) Soucy, 91, of Nashua, passed away on Tuesday November 25, 2014 at the Harbor of Nashua Crossings following a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family.

Cecile was born in Manchester on May 6, 1923, the only daughter of the late Sylvio and Leonida (Parenteau) Bouchard.

The family moved to Nashua when she was a young girl and she received her education through the St. Louis de Gonzague school system. Cecile was a lifelong communicant of St. Louis de Gonzague Church. As a young adult she worked various jobs as a secretary-assistant for a local doctor and in the mills. She married the love of her life, Norman ‘Jim’ Soucy in 1946 with whom she had four children. Cecile cherished her family and friends. She especially enjoyed the times all could gather for large meals or celebrations of even small life events. She could make food appear as if it made itself-always ready to feed anyone who came to the house. She loved family vacations at the seashore where extended family would join-playing cards late into the night and early morning, bantering and joking. She loved spending a day at a local lake with all her extended family-in-laws, nephews and nieces, sometimes 50 in all, gathering to share food, recipes, play cards and horseshoes. She taught her children that family and friends were always welcome, an invitation should never be needed. She loved deeply and openly. She especially loved all her grandchildren who visited often to share their life events from graduating one level in swimming class to announcing an engagement. Cecile loved listening and sharing all of those moments. When her children were older, Cecile returned to work in the Nashua School System from 1970 through 1991 as a cafeteria assistant, preparing and serving food. Even in this, she loved sharing food children enjoyed. Many times after retirement, a young adult would recognize her as the ‘lunch lady who saved me a peanut butter cookie because she knew I loved them!’ Upon retirement, she focused her incredible energy on gardening and house care as well as keeping up with her growing family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her last two years at Nashua Crossing, she continued to gather friends and enjoy her time with the wonderfully caring staff and residents. She was predeceased by her much loved daughter-in-law; Denise (Ricard) Soucy and three brothers; Rodolphe Bouchard, George Bouchard and Gerard Bouchard.

Besides her beloved husband of 68 years, Cecile is survived by:

Three daughters; Claudette Larose and her husband Ronald of Rehoboth MA, Anne Morrissette and her husband Richard of Hillsborough, Denise Soucy-Hansen and her husband Steve of Groton MA
