Clayton was born in Russellville, AL on March 30, 1934. He was one of eight children born to the late Felix and Alice Denton. He was a loving husband of Marianne Denton, a devoted father and grandfather who put his family first above all.

Clayton honorably served our country in the US Navy aboard the USS Leyte. Clayton received a business degree from Northeastern University. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed BASF in Bedford, MA for many years. He was both creative and intelligent; he could fix almost anything and had the ability to make something out of nothing.
